“The Phoenix Must Burn to Emerge” – Janet Fitch
There are times in life when your heart can no longer carry the life you are living. You begin to realize that you have no choice, but to embrace your soul’s directive to become who you were always meant to be. You can no longer accept the self-imposed limitations, learned through early conditioning.
An unconscious clinging to old identities and beliefs that are no longer true begins to disintegrate, you can no longer pretend to be someone you are not. This feels like death, because it is. Not a physical death, but of the imagined self. Sometimes what breaks you is what remakes you.
Time to wake up to who you are, authentically. Learning to trust unseen forces while you deepen…awakening to a new you. Easier said than done I know, but unapologetically necessary.
You can no longer serve the false identities that have shaped your life. Because now, you are becoming someone more real, more true, more aligned with your soul, and that is frightening. It can require more courage than you believe you have.
In my book “Hugging Trees in the Dark: Finding the Courage to Free the Heart”, I share my deeply personal experience of ending a 30 year marriage, selling my business of 20 yrs., and moving across the country alone to begin the painful transformation of my entire life.
I recognized that I was struck by a force more powerful than my will, and I felt powerless to change it. Surrendering, cultivating faith in my soul’s evolution became the only way forward through crippling fear.
I had no idea that I was carrying so many unconscious patterns, emotional trauma that required healing and integration. It was liberating, and intensely confusing.
What do you do when fear rises, and every fiber of your being screams with gut wrenching insecurity?
….yet your soul whispers in your ear, and the calling becomes greater than all the discomfort and fear you face. You take a courageous plunge into the darkness, an extraordiany leap of faith, trusting that a life is only worth living when you are authentic and true to your evolving self. As I see it, there really isn’t another choice.
What I learned from the darkness is a deeper understanding of the sacredness of truth, especially in relationship with yourself. A lack of self- honesty is probably one of the most grievous acts against your own precious integrity and self value. It sounds simple, but it is among the hardest truths to live.
“The real failure is not to be untrue to others, but to be untrue to ourselves” – Carl Jung
There is no greater gift that you can give than to be completely honest and expressive of your truth, once you have discovered it for yourself.
It gives those in your life permission to look deeply inside themselves as well. You become a mirror for their healing, that’s how it works.
When you truly love someone, they deserve your complete honesty even if it initially hurts. In the end, it is the truth that sets them free.
Our ability to grow increasingly more conscious, present and loving in our relationships is what life is truly all about. Without it, it’s just a game not worth playing.
Life is so precious. So, fly like the Phoenix you are. I pray I will always remember that truth because as I remind you, I remind myself.
All my love,
Robin Jillian
